  23. If you can't afford to buy a new computer, don't. However, the trend is
  24. pretty clear, within 3-5 years whatever is at the top end is obsolete
  25. in this industry (personally I think 5 years is overly optimistic). If
  26. you are running a system 5 or more years old, do NOT expect ability to
  27. run the current versions of most software (esp not to run them well).
